What I Finished Recently
I feel like I needed/deserved to treat myself with something… lighter after finishing ‘A Kingdom Of Flesh And Fire’. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy it, more that I had too many problems that overwhelmed the better sections. Seriously, it had more plot holes than a sieve and it meant that all the best bits fell out. So, I tried ‘You Should See Me In A Crown’ by Leah Johnson. It was a very cute sapphic read that’s been on my WTR forever about a girl who needs to win prom queen to get scholarship money and I was so glad to finally get round to it. Keep an eye out for my review later this week 🙂
What I’m Currently Reading
I’m currently reading ‘The Great Gatsby’… voluntarily! And the reason for this is definitely because I feel I should try this famous piece of literature, not because I can then tell people that I’ve read it…
The language is kind of hard work so far, and I feel like I should be highlighting and analysing every other word. But other than that I’m enjoying it!
What I Want To Read Next
My next stop is a very strategic reading of ‘King of Scars’ by Leigh Bardugo. The sequel, ‘Rule Of Wolves’ comes out in less than two weeks and I want to go straight into that from ‘King Of Scars’ (so read it as late as possible) but also not get any spoilers by reading it too late (ie. read close enough to release date so meme pages can’t get to work). If my calculations are correct, I should fit inone book before ‘King Of Scars’ reread… but I picked the seemingly very complicated ‘The Great Gatsby’ so my fool-proof plan may not have been as fool-proof as I thought. It’s very complicated!

I am a bit wary actually because of all the hype. I have no idea what to expect. Plus I didn’t enjoy Jennifer’s other series…which I tried reading. I feel like they all have this similar kinda pattern 😅🙁

I haven’t tried her other books but I could see how they would be quite similar – I think she definitely has a formula that works for some people and not for others! I was going to say that I’d recommend it as light reading, but they’re some LONG books so it’s a bit of a commitment 😬

I enjoyed The Great Gatsby when I read it. Glad you’re getting past the academic side of things and enjoying it too!

I really enjoyed The Great Gatsby when I read it in college. The crazy thing is, Fitzgerald is so much easier to understand than most of his contemporaries- if you can believe it. I’m glad you are tackling it. Hope you enjoy it ❤️

I can’t wait to watch the film! I feel like I’m slowly working my way through all of leonado di caprio’s films, but that I owed it to myself to read the book before watching the film haha

I really want to read From Blood and Ash! I have the first two books on my shelf but so far haven’t picked them up. I know I’ll love them but I just don’t have enough hours in the day sometimes. I hope all goes to plan with your next read!

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite classics! I honestly started it by hating it but the more I thought about everything and the characters I ended up loving it.

While I read “The Great Gatsby” in high school, I still enjoyed it. I think it was my favorite “classic” that I read while in high school. Well, I did also enjoy quite a bit of Kurt Vonnegut… 😂 Anyway! I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

Arg feel like analysing texts just takes the best bits out of them? Like when I’m quoting the subtext out of every page I don’t have time to really enjoying the book 😂
