Hey everyone! This is one of my favourite weekly tags, so many people so it it’s really fun. Anyway, WWW Wednesday is hosted over at Taking On A World Of Words, check out their site 🙂 If you’ve had a go at this tag, feel free to link in your post in the comments. And without further adieu, here’s what I’ve been up to this week!
A Book I Finished Recently

I’d only first picked up Pet at the end of the year as a quick read to boost up my books read (it’s not cheating!) and was expecting a solid three star read but it was REALLY GOOD!
I love it when that happens.
I have so many thoughts on Pet that I’m going to do a full review of it later this week, keep an eye out for it 🙂
A Book I’m Currently Reading

Ahhh, the shadow hunters. I just…. this is talking after just finishing The City Of The Lost (still don’t understand why all the books are named after cities?) but Sebastian makes me extremely uncomfortable. I think he’s supposed to ( I can’t tell if that makes it good writing?); I’m just not that big a fan of the whole incest plot haha. I’m loving Magnus and Alec but I’m not 100% sure about the other LGBT+ rep, or how it’s talked about. It’s a tricky one!
To be honest, I don’t think I’m going to review (any more) of these books. So many people adore them and I probably would have a few years ago – although there are a few scenes I wouldn’t want 12 year old me reading… It makes me kind of sad that I’ve become too cynical to enjoy these sort of books.
However, I’ve heard that City Of Heavenly Fire is the best one (and the longest omg) so I’m interested to see where it’s all going. Plus all the spines look really nice on my shelf, so it’s not all a loss 🙂
What are your opinions on this series? I’m genuinely interested in people’s favourite parts of these books so I can maybe learn to like them more. I’d love to hear your opinion in the comments!
A Book I Want To Read Next

You dont understand how flipping excited I am to read this.
LOOK AT IT!
READ THE BLURB!
I had a sneaky look inside and THE DEDICATION!
Yes I’m very excited can you tell
What are you reading at the moment? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments!
Ooh yes! City of Heavenly Fire!! I grant you that City of Lost Souls was a bit on the eh side, but you’ll love this one! Oh, and if you like historical fantasy, you have to read The Infernal Devices! It’s also Shadowhunters, and definitely my favourite out of the Shadowhunter world. Enjoy it, and let me know what you think 😅

I’ve seen Crier’s War everywhere and it looks so good! I haven’t read The Mortal Instruments in a long time and I loved them but I don’t know if that would change now! Her writing in the more recent books is definitely so much better ahaha!

Criers war has definitely had a boom recently (that was part of the reason I heard about it). Cassandra Clares writing has definitely been getting better along the mortal instruments books and I really want to read the bane chronicles (Magnus woo) as one of her newer books!

I have loved the Shadowhunters books, but definitely some more than others. I have Crier’s War on my shelf. I started to pick it up last year, but I was needing something faster paced at the time. I’m hoping to revisit it this year. Hope you love it!

Haha I know what you mean about wanting something fast paced… I’ve literally read 20 pages of a book before and then put it back bc it wasn’t for me at the time 😬 Aw thanks, I hope I like criers war too haha

Ahh “Crier’s War” has been on my TBR for so long. I really need to get to this and I’ll definitely watch out for your review! Also I love all of the Shadowhunters books but my faves are TID and TDA. XD I read the original series (TMI) years ago and I think I need to reread it again to know if I’d still like it or not. My younger self gobbled them up like nobody’s business. *lol*

That seems to be the way that most people read them – I’ve heard that the books get a lot better as they go along so I’m excited to try some of her later stuff 🙂

Ooh ‘Pet’ is on my TBR and it’s always such an awesome feeling when books exceed our expectations! I’m dying to read Crier’s War, I heard it’s super underrated. Honestly I can’t remember that much about ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series other than Magnus making me cry at one point 😂 I want to read the prequel trilogy really bad though!

Oh no…. Magnus makes me want to cry enough already… I’m scared! Yeah I’ve heard the prequel trilogy is a lot better (wouldn’t be hard 😏) Happy reading!

I remember loving the Mortal Instruments but it was a while ago since I read them! Crier’s War sounds amazing, I really need to read it!

That’s interesting about the mortal instruments (that seems to be what most people thought haha). If you do get around to criers war, I hope you enjoy it!!

Pet looks so interesting. Glad you liked it! I’m also working my way through the Shadowhunters series, but I’m only in City of Glass. Hope you enjoy Crier’s War and happy reading!
