Hey everyone! Today, I thought I’d take a step back from books (shocking, I know) to review my top TV show and film from this week. Cinema Sunday is a really fun tag hosted over at Escape 2 Fiction and I thought I’d give it a go. Have you seen any of these? What are your favourite films/tv shows from this week?
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
I finally watched The Holy Grail. And, while I can’t quite say it was the best film I’d seen all week, it was the only film, so here goes!
It was very strange. In the best possible way, it was
a bit very weird. I ranged from crying with laughter, thinking this was the best film I’d ever seen; to pausing it and wondering how on earth there was an hour left. But, it worked!
It’s pretty amazing that, 45 years after its release, a film can still crack you up. For certain moments, it was utterly hilarious: The Knights Who Say Nee, the Holy Hand Grenade, the Rabbit of Caerbannog (which has its own wikipedia page) the shrubbery… need I go on? I’m very glad that I watched it, although I doubt I will again.
“Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.”

The Umbrella Academy (2020)
SEASON 2! I’d been waiting for this for… well, not as long as some people. One of the few good things that came out of lockdown was my refound love for tv shows. Although, that may have been because I had nothing else to do.
I loved the idea, the characters, everything about Season 1. Superheroes are very overdone, but this follows what happens to them after their hey day. It’s violent, darkly funny and very clever (and SAD!! :,( ).
Season 2 was set in the 60’s (I’m trying hard not to spoil anything haha). The music and the clothes were amazing; it was interesting watching modern people fitting in to the decade. Because, of course, Allison became a civil rights activist… and Klaus started a cult. And between the fighting, the plot twists, the fighting (but there’s cool background music to the violence so it’s fine), The Umbrella Academy has really great messages.
To fans of Stranger Things, I Am Not Okay With This and anything Marvel, watch this show. You won’t regret it.
My next post is going to be reviewing the last Murder Most Unladylike: Death Sets Sail – a series I still can’t believe is over. Have a good weekend!
